Happy and Full Sunday

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

The past Thursday marks the first time I met some fellow bloggers face to face! One of the advertising networks hosted a gathering in my part of town in Orange County for all of us to meet and aside from all the free wine, drinks and food in beautiful Newport Beach, I got to meet many bloggers who shared the same interest! For more details, check out my mini thank you blog post at An Easy Recipe!
Speaking about meeting other bloggers, I’m going to be at the Blog World Expo in September! The trade show is held in Las Vegas and it’s the biggest blogging trade show. If you can make it this year, I’d love to meet you so give me a shout if you plan to attend!
Now back to regular scheduled programming. Check out these great personal finance articles!

Sunday Roundup Moving Servers Edition

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Due to recent performance issues, this blog will have a new home in the coming days!  I’ve already moved a few of the smaller blogs over and everything seems to be fine so I will be moving this blog over to the new host, Media Temple, soon.
From what I can see, the new hosting server is much faster so look forward to the speedy service in a few days!
In the meantime while I get everything prepared, enjoy other articles from the blogsphere!

No Full Time Blogging Just Yet Said Boss Sunday Links

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

As some of you know, I’m planning my move into full time blogging (heck, I even started busy blogging because of it) but that plans are going to be delayed because my boss asked if it was okay to wait till end of October before I leave.
In a way, it makes me happy that my boss believes my work was important for the company that it would take 3 months to transition me out of my position but in another way, I cannot wait to get started on my new venture!
I have many things planned, one of which is spend a little more time with my wife because a full time job and writing for blogs are pretty much eating up all of my time apart from sleep.
Despite the concerns, I told my boss “OK”. The company has given me all the opportunities that a company can give any […]

Personal Finance Reading Sunday Prepare for the Unexpected Edition

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

I just came back from a funeral of my fellow sales person’s husband, who died of a sudden heart attack. It was emotional and shocking for all of us because we were just playing volleyball with her husband in a company event not long ago. It was such a tragedy and I wish my co-worker the best in everything she does for years to come.
One thing she (and all of us) can take comfort is that her husband’s sudden death saved another person’s life. My company’s accountant’s husband felt pain in his chest recently, and despite the accountant’s suggestion to go see the doctor, the husband refused as he had to direct his crew in Beijing for the Olympics. What finally changed his mind was the incident that happened to the saleslady’s husband. My accountant went to the doctors with her spouse, and the doctor […]

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

One of my readers congratulated me on being quoted on the New York Times recently! With more and more people starting to look at blogging as a source of insightful information, there is no doubt that blogging is becoming main stream.
As a reader of this blog, you can take pride in knowing that you were one of the early adopters of this medium and that you were part of the transformation of blogging from being a hobby to a profession. While some of you are occasional readers that stumble onto this site, others have enjoyed articles by being subscribers of the blog. Sunday Linking Personal Finance Carnival Edition

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

This week, I participated in many more carnivals than in recent past.  The result is that my traffic has increased as my site is seen in many more places!  My suggestion to use Google Alert for coupon watching was also picked by Squawkfox as the editor’s choice for the festival of frugality!
On the PFN front, we also wrote our first group project on Summer Fun!  I hope that you liked our guide and expect more from our group of fantastic personal finance bloggers in the future (excuse my shameless plug)!

Linking Sunday Weight Loss Success Edition

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

A few weeks ago, I started exercising by running 28 minutes 3 times a week in an attempt to lose weight.  Combined with my recent balanced diet, I’m happy to report that the process’ been great so far!  When I first started, I was about 175 pounds and now I’m at 168.  As my goal is more towards 160, I am about half way there already!
Woohoo!  I actually found myself having more energy these days which means I can absorb more financial literature!  Here’s a few that I found interesting during the past week.

Free Photos at CVS Sunday Links

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

We got a $3 off photo enlargements coupon from CVS so we figured it would be nice to get a larger sized wedding photo of ours to put in our bedroom.  We used those Kodak photo kiosks in the store to pick the photo and the total turned out to be $0.00.  Yes, it was free so the coupon wasn’t even needed.
Of course, no one had any idea why but we are nonetheless very happy.  We will be sure to try again next time and hopefully we will still get lucky!  While we try to figure out which photos to enlarge, why not check out these great articles from around the blogsphere to enhance your personal finance knowledge?
